Join APT DC as we take a preservation-themed tour of Harpers Ferry. The tour will cover highlights of 40 years of preservation efforts at Harpers Ferry and the work of the Historic Preservation Training Center. We'll check out examples of special products and treatments that have proven to have long-term success in a preservation context.

Our tour starts early in the morning and ends in the early afternoon. We'll stop for lunch at one of the restaurants in town. After our tour, we've been invited to attend the Storer College celebration of its sesquicentennial, including a cocktail reception! Check out the schedule of events below (subject to change at the discretion of our tour guide, Peter Dessauer):

ITINERARY

9:30AM - Meet at the HAFE Park Visitor Center on Cavalier Heights.

9:35AM - Board the Bus. 

9:45AM - Arrive on Camp Hill.

10:00AM - Tours of Lockwood House. 

11:00AM - Bus to Lower Town.

11:15AM - Tour of Lower town - floods, ruins, slates, wood shingles, stuccos, mortars, gutters, and AZEK 

12:30PM  - LUNCH at a local restaurant.   

1:30PM - Resume Tour of Lower Town and Potomac River Resources - Train Station, Armory Grounds, 1810 Steps. John Brown Fort, and Confluence Point.  

3:30PM - Board the bus back to Camp Hill.

3:45PM - Storer College 150th Commemoration Address.

4:30PM - Storer College 150th activities.

5:00PM -  Attendees depart whenever they choose. Buses will take them back to the Visitor Center. 

CAVALIER HEIGHTS VISITOR CENTER 

Arrive and park at the Visitor Center. 

This is where APT DC would meet and begin the tour @ 9:30AM

ENTRANCE FEE FOR CARS

Car entrance fee at the entrance station for the Cavalier Heights Visitor Center is $10.00. 

WHAT TO BRING 

Lunch Money, snacks, bottle of water, good walking shoes, hat, camera, sun glasses, 

and, if windy, a wind breaker or jacket.

AIA Credits are available for this tour! We'll be submitting for at least 4 hours. Select this option on the registration form and remember to include your AIA number!
