Local Event: Washington National Cathedral Screening of the Documentary "Good Work"

  • Thursday, March 23, 2017
  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Washington National Cathedral

Come to the Washington National Cathedral for a free screening of Good Work: Masters of the Building Arts, a film showcasing American artisans in the building trades, including four with hands-on experience at Washington National Cathedral. The film will be followed by a short discussion with the Academy Award winning filmmakers, Marjorie Hunt and Paul Wagner, and the Cathedral artisans whose work is featured in the film: stone mason Joe Alonso, metalsmith Patrick Cardine and stained glass artisan Andrew Goldkuhle.

The documentary illustrates the diversity of beautiful and functional works of art, from stained glass to masonry to ironwork and hand-carved lettering. Good Work celebrates the importance of American craftsmanship, occupational traditions, the beauty of our built environment and calls for new generations to do “good work.”

A 6:30 pm reception, open to the public, precedes the film. Click here to register.

Washington National Cathedral is grateful to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for their underwriting support of this film screening.
